Alpha Chi Omega Convention 2016 - #AXOSunshine

It might be chilly and fall-like, but we are remembering back to "fun in the sun" with our sisters in Orlando on this #FlashbackFriday.

We didn’t win any awards in 2016, but we still had fun! (Awards from Convention 2012, #AXOattheArch, and Convention 2010). The Beta Eta chapter won the Community Relations Award, and we were thrilled for them! Xi Omega Xi, the alumnae chapter we share with Beta Eta also won TWO awards (many thanks to their president and Beta Eta chapter advisor, Britain!):  Sisterhood Award and Long Distance Collegiate Support Award!

Mary Budd's Initiation Certificate and her badge:  Both items now reside at Beta Eta chapter in Tallahassee. Mary Budd donated the items to the chapter, and the advisory board made a shadow box with them for the chapter's formal living room.

We rely on members like you to find story ideas and start conversations on topics of importance to our members. Volunteer writers and photographers seeking an opportunity to be published are also invited to contribute. Simply send your story idea and/or sample of your work to our editor, Laura O’Brien.

Members and collegiate chapters wishing to send notes and reunion information to The Lyre should submit a three- to five-sentence description via email.  They can also be mailed to:

Submission deadlines for each issue are as follows:

Spring: January 1

Summer: April 1
Fall: July 1
Winter: October 1

SUBMIT PHOTOS

Photos submitted for publication in The Lyre must be high-resolution JPEGs or TIFFs at least 300 dpi or 1 MB in size. Original photos off your camera or computer are best. Photos from applications such as Facebook, Instagram and Pic Stitch are typically low resolution and do not work well for print purposes.

To find the dpi of a photo, right-click on the photo or file name on your computer, choose Properties from the menu, click on the Details tab, then scroll down to where it says Horizontal resolution and Vertical resolution. Both of those should be at least 300 dpi. If they are less than that, the photo may appear grainy when printed.

Members and collegiate chapters wishing to send photos to The Lyre should email the photo, along with a three- to five-sentence description and list of those pictured, to The Lyre via email. They can also be mailed to:

Our sisterhood broke all the benchmarks set with over 2450 Life Loyal members in the first two years of the program. Changing to this system allows Headquarters to prepare fantastic new programs for our collegians such as the four-year member experience (which Beta Eta, our local collegiate chapter, is piloting this semester).
