Abigail E Trotter

Abigail graduated magna cum laude in the Honors Program from
Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological
science and a minor in chemistry. In 2013 to 2014 Abigail worked at
Southeastern Plastic Surgery, where she assisted Dr. Kirbo, Dr. Rosenburg and
Dr. DeRosier and the nursing staff in minor clinic surgeries. In 2013, Abigail
was one of eight students from Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-professional health
society, selected to spend a week in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica, working with
physicians and pharmacists in rural health clinics. She also participated in
the Mayo Clinic’s Clinical Research Internship Study Program (CRISP) with Dr.
Tushar Patel and his work on intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas. In the summer of
2012, she studied at L’Institute de Catholique de Paris, a language school in
Paris, where she attended classes taught entirely in French with other
international students. She participated in many organizations, including her
sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. She was a member of the Student Alumni Association
Leadership Council and served as the recruitment chair for Light the Night FSU
in 2013. Abigail was the Mentor Program director for Alpha Epsilon Delta and
was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Erica
Heinrichs

Hometown: Valrico, Fla.

Erica attended Florida State University and graduated magna cum
laude with an honors-in-the-major B.S. degree in biological science. She was
involved in undergraduate research and completed an undergraduate honors
research thesis in evolutionary genomics, investigating the effect of selection
on early- and late-age mating proportion in Drosophila flies. During her
undergraduate career Erica was inducted into several honor societies, including
Phi Beta Kappa, Rho Lambda and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
Outside of academics, Erica served the community by volunteering with many
organizations, primarily the women's Refuge House and the PACE Center of
Tallahassee. In addition, she was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega
sorority, where she served as vice president on the executive board. After
graduation, Erica worked for two years in the Dermatology Research and Practice
Scholars Program as a medical assistant under Dr. Armand B. Cognetta, a Mohs
micrographic surgeon. In her free time, Erica enjoys participating in 5K runs,
traveling to new places and hiking with her spaniel, Anabelle. She chose the
FSU College of Medicine because of its focus on patient-centered health care,
emphasis on responsiveness to community needs and dedication to serving rural
and underserved communities.
