Recapping 2011 Alpha Chi Omega State Day: Florida #TBT

One of our beloved collegians Tracy - a rockstar this one! She served on the executive board at Beta Eta, Rho Lambda and numerous other organizations and honor societies at FSU. She went on to receive her J.D. from UF. During her time at UF she served as the New Member Education advisor. Here she speaks on behalf of Alpha Ch Omega Foundation; she received two scholarships from Foundation during her time in school. Tracy radiates our five membership criteria!

We always make time to purchase stars at the Star Booth to honor our sisters and assist Foundation!

Look at this fine group of Beta Eta alumnae and collegians! We appreciate all they give to Alpha Chi Omega and our lifelong Bond of sisterhood.

#TBT - Alpha Chi Omega #AXO Headquarters Webpage ...

Yes, we did have a screen shot of the old Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters' webpage! LOL
We wanted to "spring clean" it out of our files, but felt we should share the old-school love.

Do you have more funnies to share? Send them our way.

Gamma Iota Reunion

Two our our dearest local alumnae are Barbara C and Linda Y (both Gamma Iota alumnae from University of Florida). Barbara was a national recruitment specialist for many years and both ladies served on the Beta Eta House Corporation. They contribute to the Tallahassee community, and make us proud.

This #TBT from a few years back in The Lyre is a fun tribute to them. We are thankful for our diverse group of sisters living in Tallahassee!

Joy Stubbs Doing Good

We like to recognize our sisters who live Alpha Chi Omega values. Today for #TBT we recognize Joy Stubbs (Gamma Iota, UF).

Joy is devoted wife and mother of two sweet children. In her professional life she works as an attorney for the State of Florida where she was recognized for pro-bono work in 2011.

She celebrated five years of cancer free, great living in April this year!

She married into a super cool, musical family (how apropos for an Alpha Chi, right?) And one way we "Support Sisters" is to promote the Stubbs Music Foundation event each year. And we love to buy and eat BlueWater BBQ at FSU home games or use them to cater events - SO YUMMY.

Thanks for living your live with WDA each day Joy!

#TBT Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee Remix

Not sure this really counts as a Throwback Thursday ...
it only happened in February. ha, ha

We love attending the Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee Scholarship Luncheon each year. We have such fun with our own Alpha Chi Omega sisters.

This year (2013) our hearts swelled with pride again as we celebrated Libby Pace one of the Beta Eta collegians (4.0 GPA, past vp-id, past AED president, four-year DM participant, etc.!) who received (another) scholarship from @tallyaph.

Simple, but fun: You have to love a happy cake!
Accomplished AXO Alumnae! Amy Z, ETE president; Melissa, TCC professor; Joy, State of FL attorney; Karen, ED for Steve Ellis Memorial Scholarship and 5K

So many sisters - Sisterhood LOVE! Joy (Gamma Iota); Amy (Zeta Upsilon); Loni (Beta Tau and Chi O house director); Barbara (Gamma Iota); Melissa (Zeta Psi); Karen (Beta Eta); Libby (Beta Eta and scholarship winner); Lauren (Beta Eta and alumnae chair); Jenn (Theta Lambda)

Froyo for a Cause!: Refuge House

In honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month in April, we're doing a "throwback" and highlighting the fun we had supporting Refuge House and DVAM in October!

On Saturday, October 20, 2012 Refuge House held a fundraiser at Nuberri to raise awareness about domestic violence and domestic violence awareness month;  honor victims and survivors of domestic violence; and raise funds for the shelter.

Britain and Jenn wanted to document the event (and eat froyo, OF COURSE!)
Check out Britain's blog post on Simply Southern Girl too.

Chapter Advisor Britain is always ready for a PR event with great ideas and fun.
Isn't that AX-DVA button fabulous?

Super friendly volunteers and friends of Refuge House

Fine Arts Recap - Throwback Thursday

Why is this Fine Arts post a "Throwback Thursday"?
Because we revisit April 2011! Hey, it's never too late to highlight a sister's achievements!
And it is the perfect way to wrap up a month of busy fine arts activities.

"Catharsis and Sublimation"
The Florida State Art Therapy Association (FSU ATA) presented artworks by current FSU Art Therapy students.

The show occurred Friday, April 1st during the First Friday Gallery Hop at Fire Ants Studio in Railroad Square Art Park.

Our super talented sister Erin B (Iota Psi, Elon) showed two works of art that evening. In the photograph to the right you can see the mixed media works - the bird above her and the tree to her right.

(Feb 2013 update:  Erin graduated successfully and was married this past November in Tallahassee. We hope she and hubbie Ryan remain with us in Tallahassee for many years!)

We also featured Erin's work here:
