Reminder: Get Your Tickets for the Alumnae Panhellenic Luncheon!

Thank you everyone who already has purchased a ticket for the Alumnae Panhellenic Luncheon on Saturday, February 6th. If you have not yet sent in your check (or are on the fence about attending), we would love to see you! This is always a fun event, and a great way to support the local Panhellenic community and the scholarship fund.

We have a big group of Alpha Chi Omegas planning to attend (including the current AXO-FSU collegiate chapter President, Liz, and VP-Panhellenic, Ali) so you’ll have a chance to meet/see lots of sisters!

To get your ticket, send a check for $25 made out to Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee to

Britain Dwyre
5515 Hampton Woods Way
Tallahassee FL 32311

Please put Alpha Chi Omega in the memo line and make a note if you’d like the vegetarian meal option.

Here are all the details about the event:

Saturday February 6th, beginning at 11am
At the Delta Delta Delta house, 534 Park Avenue (right next door to Alpha Chi)
Beth Langford, Kappa Delta’s National President, is our guest speaker!
Scholarships will be awarded and there will be great silent and live auction items to bid on!

More information at http://www.tallahasseeaph.org/info/ and of course if you have questions, please email me or give me a call 212-6998.

I’m excited to see the inside of another sorority house at FSU – the only one I’ve ever been inside is Alpha Chi! And of course I’m excited to see you so we can enjoy this event together!

MacDowell Month - It's almost here!

A reblog reminder about appreciating the fine arts from Mu Tau Mu (virtual alumnae chapter connected to Zeta Upsilon chapter at Case Western Reserve University):

Support Alpha Chi Omega sisters involved in the arts
http://axomtm.squarespace.com/journal/2010/1/25/prepping-for-macdowell-month-part-iv.html

This is one of our absolute favorites at MTM because it's as easy to do long-distance as it is locally. Since all collegiate chapters and most alumnae chapters are local, we'll talk about that first. Here are some ideas:
1. Make a list of all chapter members who are artists - those in the theater, orchestra, choir, as well as the poets, writers and architecture students - and share it with the chapter and local alumnae.
2. Make a calendar of all the fine arts events the sisters in Item 1 are participating in during February and the rest of the month to share.
3. Attend the events in Item 2 as a group and support fine arts and Alpha Chi sisters at the same time!

Long-distance
1. Find video and audio files of sisters' performances and share them. See some samples that MTM has shared at the bottom of our
Alpha Chi Omega songs page. Each week in February we send out a link that everyone can enjoy at their leisure... some are from alumnae and others from campus events that collegiate members participate in (like the orchestra and chorale).
2. Find ways to support fine arts on campus. Last year, MTM was a top-level sponsor for the 10th Anniversary show of a student-run theater group, the FootLighters, at CWRU. Sisters had been involved all through the years in productions, both on stage and behind the scenes, so we wanted to help the organization celebrate. It was good PR and inexpensive!
3. Highlight Alpha Chi Omega alumnae artists. For example, read a book by an Alpha Chi Omega author (see a
slideshow with some options here) or learn more about a sister who is an artist or composer or architect.
Whatever you decide to do, we hope you enjoy it! We also hope you'll share your thoughts and plans with us by commenting below. Thanks and Happy MacDowell Month!

Hall of Commitment (it's alumnae NOT alumni)

ETE hosts the Hall of Commitment ceremony every semester, as Beta Eta collegians graduate (and some transfer away) both in December and April. We strive to make all graduates feel special. We feel if they are sent off with caring, fun and presents (don't forget those!) the women will fondly remember their first experience as an alumna (NOT alumnus) and continue to give back to their Fraternity.

December 2009 we said "Farewell," and "Good Luck," to Sarah, Alyna and Kelsey. Remember to PACE ladies and let the world know you are still an Alpha Chi!

... let my lyre send forth the chords of love, unselfishness, sincerity ...

The Beta Eta chapter showed their true devotion to Alpha Chi Omega's national philanthropy, Domestic Violence Awareness, by pairing with Tallahassee's local agency and shelter for survivors of domesic and sexual violence,

We were pleased to see the chapter recognized in Refuge House's August 2009 Newsletter and 2009 Annual Report.

Don't forget to visit the blog shared by the collegians and the chapter's virtual alumnae chapter: http://axofloridastate.blogspot.com/

Alpha Chi Omega Collegian Featured on FSU Website!

We're so proud of FSU Alpha Chi Omega senior, Cheyenne Overby, who is featured on the Florida State University website! See the full profile https://campus.fsu.edu/profiles/1/

As a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, she served as the 2008 VP of Education, and was recognized for chapter awards such as Devotion Award and the Symphony Award. She was also recognized as the 2008 Panhellenic Woman of the Year. "Alpha Chi is a huge part of who I am today. The diversity of the women in the organization and the opportunities and doors it has opened has helped shape my life and made me the person I am today."

It's that time: Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee’s Scholarship Awards Luncheon

Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee’s Scholarship Awards Luncheon & Silent Auction, February 6th at 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Delta Delta Delta Sorority House

We love this event! Epsilon Tau Epsilon always make a good showing and contribute well to the fun afteroon. We are excited to report that the NATIONAL KAPPA DELTA PRESIDENT will speak at the luncheon this year!

Each year the Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee, Inc. sponsors a Valentine Auction and Brunch to raise money for its Scholarship Fund. This worthwhile project provides financial assistance for young women who are active local chapter members of the National Panhellenic Council at Florida State University. At our 2009 event [held at the Alpha Chi Omega - Beta Eta House], we awarded $3000 in scholarships to three deserving women.

Alumnae Panhellenic of Tallahassee, Inc. is a community organization composed of women that share the friendship and good fortune of sorority membership. All of these women are college graduates and are actively involved in the Tallahassee community.

This year, we are pleased to announce that Beth Langford, a Tallahassee resident and the newly installed Kappa Delta National President, will be the guest speaker. Beth is a graduate of Florida State University and has been actively involved in her sorority on a local and National level, as well as involved in the community, for many years.

Donations of merchandise or services to the auction will assist in making the February 6, 2010 occasion especially successful. This event continues to be an excellent advertising opportunity for local businesses. The deadline for donations is Friday, January 29, 2010.

Tickets to the event are $25 per person. For further information, please see our website at
http://www.tallahasseeaph.org/, or email amy or jenn.
