Alumna Initiate: Alpha Chi Omega wants YOU! (@AlphaChiOmegaHQ @snaphappy)

Alpha Chi Omega seeks out Real. Strong. Women. at Universities AND in her communities.

We want to extend the bond of friendship, leadership, learning and service to women who share our mission and vision:  your colleagues, friends, moms, cousins, daughters.

Our alumna initiates receive a mentor and an alumna educator to guide them through the education, and initiation process:  We want educated, engaged and involved members no matter the age.

Learn more about our alumnae initiate program by reading this excerpt from The Lyre.

And an article from the Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters blog.

Or this tribute by our president Amy from Convention 2012 in St. Louis.

We have to mention this page from our Beta Zeta Beta (Houston) sisters too!

Fun fact:  Our talented Executive Director Tami Shields Silverman is an alumna initiate!

ETE is very excited about conducting the ceremony for our candidates from Tallahassee and around the state. Visit our Facebook page, and send us a message if you are interested.

How do I submit my alumnae or collegiate chapter's notes and reunions to The Lyre?
and
How can I contribute to The Lyre?

We rely on members like you to find story ideas and start conversations on topics of importance to our members. Volunteer writers and photographers seeking an opportunity to be published are also invited to contribute. Simply send your story idea and/or sample of your work to our editor, Laura O’Brien.

Members and collegiate chapters wishing to send notes and reunion information to The Lyre should submit a three- to five-sentence description via email.  They can also be mailed to:
Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters, c/o The Lyre
5939 Castle Creek Parkway North Drive
Indianapolis, IN 46250-4343

Submission deadlines for each issue are as follows:
Spring: January 1
Summer: April 1
Fall: July 1
Winter: October 1

Please note that not all submissions may be featured, nor are any considered “issue-specific.”

SUBMIT PHOTOS
Photos submitted for publication in The Lyre must be high-resolution JPEGs or TIFFs at least 300 dpi or 1 MB in size. Original photos off your camera or computer are best. Photos from applications such as Facebook, Instagram and Pic Stitch are typically low resolution and do not work well for print purposes.

To find the dpi of a photo, right-click on the photo or file name on your computer, choose Properties from the menu, click on the Details tab, then scroll down to where it says Horizontal resolution and Vertical resolution. Both of those should be at least 300 dpi. If they are less than that, the photo may appear grainy when printed.

Members and collegiate chapters wishing to send photos to The Lyre should email the photo, along with a three- to five-sentence description and list of those pictured, to The Lyre via email. They can also be mailed to:
Alpha Chi Omega Headquarters, c/o The Lyre
5939 Castle Creek Parkway North Drive
Indianapolis, IN 46250-4343

Submission deadlines for each issue are as follows:
Spring: January 1
Summer: April 1
Fall: July 1
Winter: October 1

Please note that not all submissions may be featured, nor are any considered “issue-specific.”

#Lyre Badge Love - Highlight HJGreek

A fun reprint from The Lyre magazine, Summer 2008 edition.

Fun Facts:
  • Your badge always goes where? Over your heart, and nothing should be worn above it - if you have a guard or LifeLoyal pin, 25-year member pin, etc., those are worn below the badge.
  • Your name tag? Always worn on your right side.
  • Need a new badge? Contact Headquarters and they will order if for you.
  • Want to ensure a safe place for your badge after you are gone? Below is a short form you can cut out and place with your badge or other personal papers so that your family is aware of your intentions for the disposal of your badge.  To ensure that intentions are enforceable, however, please consult with a lawyer.                                                                                                   Alpha Chi Omega Badge Disposition Instructions

Our sisterhood broke all the benchmarks set with over 2450 Life Loyal members in the first two years of the program. Changing to this system allows Headquarters to prepare fantastic new programs for our collegians such as the four-year member experience (which Beta Eta, our local collegiate chapter, is piloting this semester).

We're proud that many of our local Alumnae are Life Loyal:
Betty (Gamma Zeta - KS State)
Ramona (Beta Eta - FSU)
